Visitors should enter the college through the Porters’ Lodge at the main High Street entrance to Magdalen College.

Public Transport

Oxford is easily reached by public transport.  Regular coach services operate from central London (journey time 1 hour 40 minutes) and the airports (Heathrow 90 minutes) and Gatwick (120 - 150 minutes).

Trains run from London Paddington (journey time 1 hour) and from Birmingham (journey time 1 hour 30 minutes) to the Oxford Railway station, see www.nationalrail.co.uk. Buses (Number 5 and 13) run from the railway station and stop at The Queen’s College in the High Street, or you could get a taxi from outside the station or walk (about 20 minutes through the city centre).

Travelling by car

Oxford suffers from severe traffic congestion, and we recommend that if possible you use public transport when visiting the City. Since parking in the city centre is also very limited and expensive, you may wish to use the Park and Ride facilities on the ringroad. Location of Oxford with approach roads

Day visitors travelling by car are advised to use Thornhill Park and Ride on the A40 east of Oxford. Buses into the centre stop opposite Queen’s Lane on the High Street. 

Buses from Seacourt Park and Ride stop at The Queen’s College as do buses from the Railway Station.  It is a five minute walk from here to Magdalen College.
